Overview

This program allows for current MD students enrolled at the Miller School of Medicine the opportunity to achieve a companion Master of Arts in Medical Humanities and Bioethics in which they examine the ethical implications of medicine, public health and other health professions from a variety of cultural, historical, and religious perspectives.

The Miller School’s Institute for Bioethics and Health Policy will partner in offering a course in Bioethics and the Bioethics practicum, including opportunities for dual degree students to participate in Bioethics advisory boards variety of community, government, religious and other organizations, and special events for students in the MD/MA in Medical Humanities and Bioethics program.  Faculty affiliates of the Institute who will assist in overseeing practice for dual degree students have provided expertise to the state’s Department of Corrections, Department of Children and Families, and Department of Health, and to a variety of community health organizations. Through the Bioethics practicum, MD students will have the opportunity to collaborate with a range of government and community organizations.
