Overview

The Master of Health Professions Education (MHPE) program is a 33-credit, fully online program designed for working professionals seeking to enhance their impact in clinical, academic, and global health settings, and can be completed in 2–2.5 years. The program is open to applicants across a wide range of health professions (e.g., medicine, nursing, pharmacy, public health) who demonstrate a strong interest in teaching, curriculum development, educational scholarship, and inclusive excellence.

Students complete 11 core courses (27 credits) across four focus areas: teaching and learning, leadership, global health pedagogy, educational scholarship, and inclusive excellence. Courses are primarily delivered asynchronously, with scheduled synchronous sessions for case-based discussion and collaborative problem solving. Select courses are team-taught. To demonstrate mastery and integration of knowledge in health professions education, students also complete a culminating project (6 credits) which may include one of the following three options: (1) an educational research or thesis project, (2) a leadership practicum culminating in a publishable manuscript, or (3) a teaching practicum culminating in a publishable manuscript.
