Philosophy
A high-quality contemporary education must include effective writing as well as advanced communication skills to ensure that students can communicate the knowledge they have acquired in their major to the most consequential audiences for that knowledge. These skills will vary greatly across disciplines in terms of content and presentation.
Requirement
To achieve this goal, each school/college has developed an Advanced Writing and Communication Requirement specific to each degree and/or major. Refer to the overview page in the Bulletin for each school, college, or department for details on this requirement. Students with multiple majors will need to fulfill the Advanced Writing and Communication Requirement of only their primary major. Students pursuing two undergraduate degrees will need to fulfill the Advanced Writing and Communication Requirement for both degrees.
