Juris Doctor /Master of Business Administration

The University of Miami School of Law and the Miami Herbert Business School offer a dual degree program in law and business. Upon completion of this program, a student earns the Juris Doctor degree from the School of Law and a Master of Business Administration degree from the Miami Herbert Business School.

Independently, the JD degree requires the completion of 88 credits, while the Professional MBA degree requires 42 credits. Students enrolled in the JD/MBA dual-degree program benefit from shared credit hours, reducing the overall required course load to 118 credits for both degrees.

Requirements for Admission

Students who apply for the joint J.D./M.B.A. program must apply to both the School of Law and the Miami Herbert Business School. The applicant must achieve a qualifying score on the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) for admission to the respective schools.

The applicant must notify both schools that he or she is applying for the dual J.D./M.B.A. program, and in order to remain in the joint program, the student must meet minimum standards of both the School of Law and the Miami Herbert Business School.
